What does the phrase "financial security" mean to you?
Does it mean being debt-free? Having enough money to take a year off
work? It might just be paying your bills in full every month with a little
extra to save or spend.
There's really no wrong answer – money, and what it means to
you, is personal. Above all, I believe financial
security means having choices.
The choice to
change careers or leave a job that's not right for you. To stay home with the
kids. To start a business. Or simply the choice to remain on the same path, but with the knowledge that you are choosing that path rather than being trapped by money.
I'm Kelley C. Long and I am passionate about educating Americans about the basics of money so that they can make better choices and feel financially secure. As a National Spokesperson for financial literacy and through writing, social media and speaking, I am always looking for ways to spread the message and inspire people to action.
